Since becoming a Mum I have grown to appreciate the fleeting, magical moments that children embrace as they grow each day. That look of concentration, reflection or total excitement as they watch the world around them change with momentous speed, or find themselves absorbed in the delightful task of playing.
Below are a selection of sketches and paintings of children created from photographs. All sketches are in charcoal, a medium which by its very nature seems apt to catch the quick movements and fluid movement of each child as they wriggle, crawl and move around. Paintings are in oil and I try to enrich them with the bright colours and bold shapes that little ones are drawn to themselves. These are, after all, their paintings.
