Portrait FAQ

For full price lists of all my paintings please visit my Etsy SHOP – comment/contact me for any more information.  Here’s some info on my portrait commission process…

How long will it take for me to receive my portrait? This does vary a little depending on my schedule, time of year and holidays. But on average I will aim to get your portrait to you within 2-4 weeks. I will contact you before, during and after the portrait is commissioned to keep you updated. If you wish to have your portrait for a specific date/occasion please try and place your order well in advance and let me know when you would like the portrait by!

Can more than two children be in the portrait? The answer to this is possibly! I prefer to paint a maximum of 3 children as the portrait would need to be quite large to accommodate more. Also for a portrait of 3 children I would need a good quality photograph of all three children together to work from. But please do contact me for a quote!

How much is shipping? Shipping for UK customers is set through my shop, but is around £5. If you are an international customer please contact me for a shipping cost which is calculated on an individual basis. Your portrait will be carefully packaged and arrive mounted, ready to be framed. Do you always paint from a photograph? Yes. Children are always on the move so painting from life is tricky! I like to have a few photographs if possible to get to know your child’s personality. Visit my page on how to order for details on how to choose and send photos.

What materials do you use? Mostly watercolour. It’s a medium that can be both strong and subtle, bright and nuanced. I love how direct it is; as a busy Mum I often have to work during nap times, evenings or weekends and watercolour allows me to get into a painting quickly and come back to it if I need to. I also use ink and coloured pencils, so the work is technically mixed media. I paint on 300gsm acid-free watercolour paper.
